Escambia County Division of Solid Waste Management Chosen for 2009 SWANA Award
Escambia County Division of Solid Waste Management has been chosen to receive the 2009 Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Gold Excellence Award in Landfill Management. SWANA’s Excellence Awards Program recognizes outstanding solid waste programs and facilities. The award targets those management teams that advance the practice of environmentally and economically sound solid waste management through their commitment to utilizing effective technologies and processes in system design and operations, advancing worker and community health and safety, and implementing successful public education and outreach programs. Programs selected must also demonstrate that they are fiscally and environmentally responsible through their compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.
This is the Oscar of Solid Waste! The award will be presented at the North American Solid Waste Convention – WASTECON in Long Beach, California, on September 24.
