The boom will be closed and only opened as needed for passage on the low tide as long as no oil is present.
  • Tides - Booms will be tended and opened as needed before high tide. Many of the boomed areas within the bay, will be open and remain open during the high tide as long as no oil is present. If the boom is closed and vessels need access, please call 850-736-2261 to have a tender respond to allow passage through the boom.

    • For the two hours following the air show, Little Sabine will be outbound traffic only.  Any vessel needing entrance to Little Sabine at this time should contact the Coast Guard on Channel 16.
  • Boom Safety Zone - Coast Guard has established a 20-meter safety zone around all protective boom.  This safety zone is intended to protect installation and maintenance of oil containment boom, response equipment and protection of the environment by limiting access to and through deployed boom.  If the vessel operators cannot abide by the 20-meter rule, they are required to be cautious and travel at safe speeds and a safe distance from the protective boom.  Violations can result in a civil penalty of up to a $40,000 fine and willful violations may result in a class D felony.
