Cantonment Redevelopment District
The Cantonment Redevelopment District was adopted by the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners in 2010 pursuant to resolution number R2010-204. The district covers a suburban area of approximately 4.1 square miles consisting of low density residential, commercial and agricultural uses, and serves as a gateway to the more rural and agricultural areas of northern Escambia County. Cantonment is home to approximately 2,400 residents, in addition to, the district’s most prominent industry, the International Paper Mill. Located approximately 5 miles north of Escambia County’s Ensley Redevelopment District, and 10 miles north of the City of Pensacola, Cantonment offers the slower-paced lifestyle of suburbia with close access to amenities and shopping located in nearby Pensacola.
